SUMMARY:Mike's (Nearly Birthday) Ride
DESCRIPTION:Leaving at 6:00. This is usually the longest day ride but because I’m away then I’ve moved it forward. It’s an evening ride starting at Macdonalds\, Towcester and follows a fairly back street route to end in Stratford-upon-Avon where you can indulge yourself with coffee or a meal or just a wander along the river. We will park in the bike park by the sports centre because Stratford council are miserable bast***s and won’t let us park by the river.The length of the stop will be decided when we arrive and the return journey will end Nr Banbury where everyone can make their own way home.

SUMMARY:High Peak Passes (Iron Butt) ride
DESCRIPTION:Departing from Rugby Truck Stop (Stobbarts A5) at 9am prompt.\n\n\n\nThe route in total will be 220 miles from Truck Stop to the finish point at LFE Services (M1 southbound). \n\n\n\nTo get up quickly we will head up the M1 and A50 to Derby & Burton Services where we shall stop for a fuel up\, comfort break etc. @ Shell station  LOCATION  DE65 6DX.  (48 miles). \n\n\n\nIts then onwards up to Ashbourne and a scenic ride through the Dales and up and over the Cat & Fiddle pass\, over to Macclesfield and stop @ Shell station for fuel and quick break.  LOCATION   SK11 0JX  (53 miles) \n\n\n\nThen it’s up and over Dumbers\, through Buxton and on towards Glossop.  We stop for lunch at the George & Dragon (where else !!) in Charlesworth LOCATION SK13 5EZ (31 miles) \n\n\n\nOur return route is up and over the Snake Pass\, down through Chatsworth Park\, through Matlock Bath and we stop for fuel\, comfort break @ Sainsbury’s\, Ripley  LOCATION  DE5 3QP.   (48  miles). \n\n\n\nFinally we pick the M1 south and the ride finishes at LFE services on the M1 near Leicester  LOCATION  LE3 3GB  (38 miles) \n\n\n\nI must point out that this ride takes in a number of narrow and very winding roads through The Dales\, with some steep declines and ascent and dry stone walls at the edges of the road.  You will need to continually observe the conditions of the roads as pot holes and lose gravel could crop up anywhere\, and there tends to be a number of cyclists and horses out and about. \n\n\n\nWe will be covering a lot of miles over demanding roads\, so it will be necessary for all riders to keep up with the pace of the ride in front of them at all times.  This will ensure the smooth flow and progress of the ride and keep all riders safe by not having to slow the ride.  It also helps to reduce the number of 2nd man drops required. \n\n\n\nI intend to use the same pub we have stopped at before as it is generally quiet at lunch time and has always worked well before (pre-pandemic).  We normally sit out- side. \n\n\n\nFinally\, this ride require decent weather – therefore if the forecast is poor for the day I will postpone.  Keep an eye out on the chapter website\, facebook\, email. \n\n\n\n Cheers   Slow Hand          Mobile:   07709 205571      Email : c.lapsley@ntlworld.com

Colin leading.\n\n\n\nCome and join me for an easy\, low mileage\, mystery ride\, where you can get food and a drink\, have a chat and just enjoy some gentle riding together.  \n\n\n\nI plan to leave McDonalds A43 at 11.00 and ride of approx. 35 miles (1 hour) to get to the venue\, then another 30 miles to the end of the ride. Looking at the weather for Sunday it is the only day currently showing a possibility of rain so I will keep an eye on that and will confirm Saturday evening if there are any issues.
