SUMMARY:Ride to the Tide - Hunstanton
DESCRIPTION:Simon will be leading a ride to Hunstanton on Saturday 10th September 2022. The ride will be leaving McDonalds Towcester at 09:00 so please be ready with a full tank and empty bladder as this is quite a long ride. \n\n\n\nThe route will take us along the A45\, A605\, A1139 then A47 to Kings Lynn\, from there we will take the A149 to Hunstanton.  Once there you can take in the sea air\, eat fish n chips\, and enjoy ice-cream. \n\n\n\nThe route back will be a reverse of the journey there and will finish at BP service station NN8 2DU. This ride is weather dependant so if the sun gods are not smiling on us\, the ride will need to be postponed.

DESCRIPTION:When the price was increased at the Rugby Club we needed to find a new location. At the time I was keen to reduce our outgoings as much as possible which we have managed mainly through Scott finding a new web supplier at a greatly reduced cost.The Mill at the time suited our situation but there were always going to be compromises\, the main one being the parking. Since Covid the Mills customer base has increased alarmingly meaning that even ar- riving at 1845 on club night is difficult to find a parking space\, and with the good weather this will only increase. Also not a massive concern but I am aware that a couple of members have fallen on the stairs when going down to the bar sober. Since attending they have also increased the price of the top room for events.In light of this future club nights will be held at;THE WALNUT TREE21 Station Rd\, Blisworth\, Northampton NN7 3DSThere is a charge for using the room but less than the Rugby club was and there is adequate parking. The bar is next door to our room but on the same level.

SUMMARY:High Peaks Passes Iron Butt Ride
DESCRIPTION:Leaving Rugby Truck Stop (Stobbarts A5) at 09:00 prompt on Saturday 6th August.\n\n\n\nRescheduled from 11th June\n\n\n\nWhy not come and join us for a ride- and I mean a “ride” up to the High Peak and its best passes. \n\n\n\nThe route in total will be 220 miles from Truck Stop to the finish point at LFE Services (M1 southbound).To get up quickly we will head up the M1 and A50 to Derby & Burton Services where we shall stop for a fuel up\, \n\n\n\ncomfort break etc. @ Shell station LOCATION DE65 6DX. (48 miles).Its then onwards up to Ashbourne and a scenic ride through the Dales and up and over the Cat & Fiddle pass\, over \n\n\n\nto Macclesfield and stop @ Shell station for fuel and quick break. LOCATION SK11 0JX (53 miles)Then it’s up and over Dumbers\, through Buxton and on towards Glossop. We stop for lunch at the George & \n\n\n\nDragon (where else !!) in Charlesworth LOCATION SK13 5EZ (31 miles) \n\n\n\nOur return route is up and over the Snake Pass\, down through Chatsworth Park\, through Matlock Bath and we stop for fuel\, comfort break @ Sainsbury’s\, Ripley LOCATION DE5 3QP. (48 miles). \n\n\n\nFinally we pick the M1 south and the ride finishes at LFE services on the M1 near Leicester LOCATION LE3 3GB (38 miles) \n\n\n\nI must point out that this ride takes in a number of narrow and very winding roads through The Dales\, with some steep declines and ascent and dry stone walls at the edges of the road. You will need to continually observe the conditions of the roads as pot holes and lose gravel could crop up anywhere\, and there tends to be a number of cyclists and horses out and about. \n\n\n\nWe will be covering a lot of miles over demanding roads\, so it will be necessary for all riders to keep up with the pace of the ride in front of them at all times. This will ensure the smooth flow and progress of the ride and keep all riders safe by not having to slow the ride. It also helps to reduce the number of 2nd man drops required. \n\n\n\nI intend to use the same pub we have stopped at before as it is generally quiet at lunch time and has always worked well before (pre-pandemic). We normally sit out- side. \n\n\n\nFinally\, this ride require decent weather – therefore if the forecast is poor for the day I will postpone. SUMMARY:Founders Day Ride
DESCRIPTION:Departing from Towcester McDonalds at 10:30am on Sunday 24th July. Badger leading. Mikey and Colin tailing.\n\n\n\nSynonymous with ‘The Taverners\,’ is Founders Day\, it has become one of the major UK events in the ‘old bike’ calendar. From humble beginnings almost fifty years ago with just a hundred or so visitors and half a dozen people selling surplus bike bits out of their car boot or laid out on the obligatory ‘paste table’ the event has grown in to a vast slick and professional operation. \n\n\n\nOriginally the event took place on the area to the right of the driveway with a small ‘arena’ to the back of the hall\, nowadays there is a large arena to the front of the hall along with an autojumble nearing 300 pitches in number and taking up the whole area to the front of the hall. \n\n\n\nIn recent years the attendance levels have grown to around the 4000 mark or more if the weather cooperates\, even with the challenges the weather threw at us in 2012 around 3000 visitors made the pilgrimage. Which other event allows you to see everything from an FS1E to Brough going around the arena! It’s also worth having a wander round the bike park as there are many very nice bikes actually ridden to this event. \n\n\n\nThis year’s attraction is “The Wall of Death” which is free to watch and is included in your event entry fee of £10.00 \n\n\n\nAdmission: £10 per person \n\n\n\nEntry tickets to the event on Sunday 24th July are available on the gate only\, taking cash or card payments please.

DESCRIPTION:When the price was increased at the Rugby Club we needed to find a new location. At the time I was keen to reduce our outgoings as much as possible which we have managed mainly through Scott finding a new web supplier at a greatly reduced cost.The Mill at the time suited our situation but there were always going to be compromises\, the main one being the parking. Since Covid the Mills customer base has increased alarmingly meaning that even ar- riving at 1845 on club night is difficult to find a parking space\, and with the good weather this will only increase. Also not a massive concern but I am aware that a couple of members have fallen on the stairs when going down to the bar sober. Since attending they have also increased the price of the top room for events.In light of this future club nights will be held at;THE WALNUT TREE21 Station Rd\, Blisworth\, Northampton NN7 3DSThere is a charge for using the room but less than the Rugby club was and there is adequate parking. The bar is next door to our room but on the same level.

DESCRIPTION:Come and join us for a fun filled weekend at the Northampton Town Festival Saturday 2nd July and Sunday 3rd July. Your support to display bikes at the show from our chapter will be greatly appreciated. \n\n\n\nI will be leading the ride Saturday 2nd July. Kevin Deakin has invited us for breakfast at his works fun day and to start the ride from there. \n\n\n\nFor those wanting to meet for breakfast\, please meet at Waitrose NDC\, Magna Park\, Atkins Way\, Milton Keynes\, MK17 8FF @ 09:00 for bacon butties and tea / coffee provided by Kev and his team. (I will need to know approx. numbers attending breakfast for catering) \n\n\n\nWe will leave Waitrose Milton Keynes at 10:00 and head to McDonalds Towcester to pick up anyone wanting to attend the Northampton show but not wanting breakfast. I aim to be at McDonalds for 10:30 so please be ready for an immediate departure\, we will then take the short ride into Northampton. \n\n\n\nWe have space allocated at the show to display our bikes to the public. Entry to the show is free for people attending with the ride\, once there you are free to wander and enjoy events\, stalls food and live music.  \n\n\n\nMikey will lead the one-way ride on Sunday and will leave McDonalds Towcester at 10.30.
