DESCRIPTION:Our monthly club night at the Towcester brewery. Hopefully\, the biker down course that Mike has been trying to arrange for February club night will now go ahead. I have tried to give a start time of around 7.30 so we can tie up the committee meeting first.I would hope that we can use our normal meeting room so everyone is involved but if we want to keep it separate perhaps we could hold it upstairs in the party room then people can choose.It has come round a bit suddenly as it was only re-arranged a week ago so I hope it works out. So far 17 people have indicated they are coming and I expect a few more.Scott\, could you still add it to the web site\, sorry\, I know it’s late in the day. Can’t say I know the format or length of the course as so far I have only had a brief conversation with the instructor who has been working nights.I’m sure it will work out somehow.

DESCRIPTION:John Lourie tell us:“Having ridden lots of different (mainly very old) motorcycles since 1959\, and having lots of relatives in the US and Canada\, I felt the time had come in 1996 to ‘have a go’ on a Harley-Davidson in its home country (having previously only ridden one down the A5 from Bletchley to Hockcliffe). \n\n\n\nThe taunt from a friend living in N. Carolina that I was nothing more than a middle-aged ‘last-chance trendy’ sealed the decision\, and a huge third-hand Harley with an engine bigger than a small car – and weighing almost as much – was procured from the retired Chief of Police in a town in Vermont.There followed 20 years of perambulations around North America\, taking in the ‘Four Corners’: Nova Scotia in NE Canada\, Key West on the southernmost tip of Florida\, Southern California\, and Alaska\, mostly with my long-suffering late wife Lucinda on the back.  One trip was from New York to Los Angeles\, taking in the whole length of (as much as remains of) the iconic Route 66\, and I will try to give a flavour of this experience in this talk. (I finally parted with the great beast 3 or 4 years ago\, my explanation being that in my mid-70s I had got a bit light for the bike). \n\n\n\nThis event will take place at the Milton Keynes Synagogue.

The ride will be leaving McDonalds on A43 Towcester at 10:00. \n\n\n\nThe route will take us through Market Harborough and along the B6047 then onto the A46 to Nottingham. He had only recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour.As a long time motorcyclist\, he expressed his wishes to be taken on his last ride in a Harley Davidson powered hearse and to be cremated wearing his Nene Valley Chapter patched waistcoat. DESCRIPTION:Departing from Jack’s Hill Cafe at 10:30 am on Saturday 18th September. Martin leading\n\n\n\nThis is a ride of about 1 ½ hours (55 miles) to the Classic Motor Hub based at the historic site of RAF Bibury in the heart of the Cotswolds. Our ride will take us past the Rollright Stones\, so depending on numbers we may be able to pull over and take a peek before riding through Stow-on-the Wold and on to the Hub just outside Bibury. \n\n\n\nOnce there\, we can browse the cars for sale in their showroom (and browse their classic motoring themed gift shop that may be more in our price range!). \n\n\n\nThey now have a coffee shop\, so this ride is timed to be able to browse\, have lunch there and then there is a return ride leaving about 2pm or you are free to go off to explore the Cotswolds on your own. \n\n\n\nThe round-trip from Jack’s Hill is 110 miles\, so if you are doing the return ride\, please notify a road captain if you need a petrol stop. \n\n\n\nMartine leading\, Mikey & Becky tailing \n\n\n\n07866 363 784 \n\n\n\nmartine@garland.me.uk
